Mahdi Zarei Pour, the father of Mohammad Sadra, a 9-year-old third grader from Minab School, recounts the last day of his son's life; a day that coincidentally was also his birthday. "That morning, unlike any other, Mohammad Sadra asked me to take him to school myself. As he got out, he embraced me with childlike affection and went to class; I had no idea this would be his last embrace." Minutes after the explosion, Mohammad Sadra's father was among the first to reach the ruins of the school. He says, "Nothing remained of the school except for the piled-up debris. Everyone had come to help; not just for their own child, but to save any child who might still be alive under the rubble. Today is my son's birthday, but we celebrate it at his grave, alongside the memory of that warm embrace."
