Life Under the Shadows of Ruin: Minab Still Mourns 'Shajareh Tayyibeh'
Weeks after the painful tragedy of February 28, 2026, the marks of air strikes on the "Shajareh Tayyibeh" elementary school remain fresh. This school, once alive with the voices of children, has now become a silent symbol of civilian casualties in this war—a place where 168 students lost their lives in a single moment. A bitter contrast is visible throughout the city of Minab. Near the city cemetery, where many of the school's victims have been laid to rest, a group of children plays football on a dirt field. This contrast between childhood games and the proximity to the graves of their classmates casts a heavy atmosphere over the city. Minab is one of the locations that has suffered the most damage to its educational infrastructure, and the mourning for the 168 students remains the region's greatest human tragedy.
